Governance Structure

The Marches Academy Trust is a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) and an approved DfE Academy sponsor. The Trust is a charitable company limited by guarantee (not for profit) and is required by law to operate to all statutory regulations and rules within its Articles of Association which are registered at Companies House.
The Marches Academy Trust is governed through the Board of Trustees.
This Board is made up of some Trustees appointed by the Members and representation from the following:

• Trustees from Academies (Chairs of Local Governors Bodies from individual Academies)
• Chief Executive Officer of the Trust on an ex officio basis (the Executive Headteacher)
• Other Trustees appointed by the Board of Trustees

The Secretary of State for Education has the power to appoint Trustees where he feels this is necessary.
