Benefits for the Community

Our volunteers

Our volunteers possess a varied skill set and support their local schools by driving high standards of achievement for all children and young people. They do this through contributing to strategic discussions at meetings, holding school leaders to account by monitoring the school’s performance and ensuring the school staff have the resources, premises and support they require to do their jobs well.

Our governing bodies

Our Local Governing Bodies provide a local level of access and accountability, and the Board of Trustees ensures that the Trust connects with our local Governors on a regular basis. This happens during monthly meetings between our Chairs and LGBs who send Governor representatives to the Board of Trustees committee meetings for education, finance and operations, and audit and risk.

Good governance is at the heart of delivering educational excellence and our Local Governing Bodies are highly valued members of our school communities. Everything that our Trust strives for is not just for the benefit of our children, young people and teachers, but the community as a whole.

Actio Programme

In partnership with Shropshire Council, Energize STW and the Actio Consortium, The Marches Academy Trust provide a range of activities to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to access safe environments to play, learn, make friends, and be active. We know how important a healthy lifestyle is, and how much more vulnerable our children and young people are to isolation, poorer health, and being less engaged in their local communities. We hope that our opportunities include some activities your child or young person would benefit from.

Physical education apprenticeships

We offer a variety of high-quality apprenticeship physical education and school sport programmes for Shropshire primary schools. Our provision is run in partnership with Sports Structures based in Birmingham. These apprenticeships include Community Activator Coach Apprentice, Community Sport and Health Officer Apprenticeship and Sports Coach Apprenticeship.

Our sporting partnerships and initiatives

In our support of physical education and activity, the Trust have been working with Shropshire schools for the past four years delivering high quality physical education and school sport CPD workshops and qualifications. Over the past 12 months, we have worked with national sporting bodies that include British Dodgeball, The LTA, British Gymnastics, and the Youth Sport Trust. We also actively support the Active Leadership Programme which aims to provide children and young people with a ‘child centred’ approach to leading and activating playtimes.
